    The Mentored Business is a Dallas-based mentoring practice for small business owners. Founder Matt Hanley works one-on-one with a small number of owners each year — those preparing to launch, those whose business is running them ragged, and those ready to grow or plan a strong exit. The work develops the owner first, because the business will only ever grow as far as the person running it.

  • Who is business mentoring for?

    Three kinds of owners: aspiring entrepreneurs moving an idea from "someday" to a real operating business, established owners whose growth has stalled or who know they've become the bottleneck, and family business owners navigating succession or generational transition.

  • Do you only work with businesses in Dallas?

    No. The Mentored Business is based in Dallas, but Matt works with owners nationwide. Monthly deep sessions happen in person or virtually, and weekly calls keep the work moving no matter where you operate.

  • How is mentoring different from business coaching or consulting?

    A consultant solves one narrow problem and leaves. A coach asks questions and lets you find your own answers. Mentoring is a working partnership — Matt brings 35 years of operating experience across many industries, works alongside you on both the business and the way you're wired to run it, and stays accountable to the outcome with you.

    Every engagement begins with a free 30-minute consultation. You'll walk through where your business actually stands, the one or two challenges holding you back, and what the first ninety days of working together would look like. No commitment, no pressure to decide on the call.
